The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) will not broadcast Zambia’s away matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign after confirming it has not acquired the rights to show the fixtures.
The public broadcaster made the announcement on Friday ahead of Zambia’s opening Group I qualifier against Algeria in Tizi Ouzou.
The Chipolopolo face the Fennecs at the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium on Friday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 21:00 CAT.
In a statement, ZNBC said the decision applies to Zambia’s away fixtures during the qualifying campaign.
“ZNBC will not broadcast the away matches in the qualifiers, including the match between Algeria and Zambia, being played in Algeria this evening. This is because ZNBC has not acquired the broadcast rights for away fixtures in the qualifiers,” the broadcaster said.
ZNBC will, however, provide live coverage of all three of Zambia’s home qualifiers.
The first will be Zambia’s Group I meeting with Togo at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Tuesday, 29 September.
The broadcaster will also show Zambia’s home fixture against Burundi in November 2026 and the return meeting with Algeria in March 2027.
“Fans across the country can watch the live coverage of the home games on ZNBC TV,” the statement added.
ZNBC has also appealed to corporate organisations and business partners to support the broadcast of the home fixtures through sponsorship.
The broadcaster said interested companies can contact its Sales and Marketing teams for partnership opportunities.
Zambia begin their qualifying campaign against an Algeria side that will host the Chipolopolo in front of a reported sell-out crowd in Tizi Ouzou.
The two sides are joined in Group I by Togo and Burundi, with the qualification campaign determining the teams that will progress to the 2027 AFCON finals.
